TFI's current projects include the creation of a 9/11 Memorial
Garden. The purpose of this project is to provide a tribute to
the 9/11 victims in the form of a garden where the community can
come together to share feelings, yet be surrounded by the beauty of
the garden. The Memorial Garden is located within the Wildlife
Nature Park. At the same time, the project will inspire local
residents and other groups to create similar projects.
In 2002, TFI started the construction of a Memorial Grove of
Healing and had 40 trees planted. , TFI has received and
applied for grants totaling $124,300 towards the creation of this
Seaside Nature Park. In addition, at the request of TFI, over
$200,000 of in-kind services and materials were provided to this
project at no cost.
TFI has accomplished the following in the last quarter of 2002:
* Cleared approximately 35,000 square feet of area that was an
abused, derelict dumping ground.
* Spread 400 cubic yards of quality top soil in the area where 40
trees were planted.
* Engaged the services of Bradford M. Greene "the Dean" of
licensed, professional landscape architects.
